Applewin joystick not responding9/19/2023 ![]() I'm willing to use some letter keys for this purpose and have them not work for typing - I don't need to type in Dino Eggs anyway - but perhaps a joystick on/off toggle (Alt-F12, perhaps?) would resolve that issue too. What I hope to see is some way to specify which keys should be used for the four (eight?) directions as well as which ones should be used for the two buttons. People tried to bodge by opening the pot, moving the arm to not worn out part of ferro-oxide strip. Ferro-oxide coating in the pot must be worn out. (Not to mention that it also requires that I hold my left wrist at a very unnatural angle that quickly becomes very tiring.) You can try opening the joystick and spraying some contact cleaner in the potentiometer for the Y axis. I have fairly small hands and this stretch is uncomfortable to say the least. ![]() Despite this, Windows 8.1, and now Windows 10, see the joystick right away, and know exactly what it is - and it works great. Now, the thing is like at least 15 years old, it actually comes with a PC Joyport-to-USB adaptor. The only way I can find to keep one hand on the cursor keys and use the other to press the two buttons is to put my left pinky on the left Alt key and stretch my hand to span the space bar so that I can put my left index or thumb on the right Alt key. I have an older pc joystick, a Wingman Extreme 3D Digital, and it works oddly in AppleWin. On a laptop with no numeric keypad, trying to play a game that requires both joystick buttons for different purposes is all but impossible.Īs an example, the game Dino Eggs cannot be played without using both buttons frequently. Similar: AppleWin (Apple II emulator) On-screen keyboard and joystick emulation. Stuck on setting up Apple ID for approx 10 hours now. I'd really like there to be some option for configuring the keys used by the joystick emulation. If AppleWin is able to detect a joystick, then it'll let you keep this option, otherwise it'll pop up a message box saying 'The emulator is unable to read your PC joystick.' One other thing: your USB joystick must be plugged in before you start AppleWin. runs at roughly 1 MHz it is quite a challenge to get this working. The best emulator for Windows users is AppleWin, and OpenSource software which. Modifying the program image by replacing A0 with 98 makes the game recognize right and down inputs. I hope I'm not repeating a request that already exists but I didn't see. This joystick routine, in AppleWin, returns for full left/up-center-full right/down: 40-6B-9E, failing to exceed the threshold for right/down, at A0.
